There is safe level access to all of the main facilities which are on the ground floor and which include a WC equipped for those with disabilities.
Unfortunately this is not the case for the Main Hall which is on the Upper floor and to which the only access is by stairs.
The solutions available to us are limited by what we are allowed to do to a 15th Century Grade II Listed Building and by the funds available to proceed.
Following extensive analysis and a few false starts, we are now at the beginning of a phased approach which we believe will provide the necessary access and facilities, and allow us to improve the existing premises.
In Phase One we aim to construct an extension to the South Elevation capable of housing the necessary facilities.
Thanks to April Church of Church Architectural, we were awarded Planning Consent and Listed Building Consent on 23rd July 2008. We have appointed a Project Manager, Martin Ryder to oversee the project.
We appointed Robin Copeland of Quattro Design Architects on 10th October 2008 to take the project through to completion. After the hand over from April Church, the next mile stone will be to produce an interim costing and to obtain building regulation approval from Tewkesbury Borough Council.
In Phase Two we aim to install a lift between the two floors.
In Phase Three we aim to add inclusive facilities upstairs.
In Phase Four we aim to use the remaining space in the extension to improve the bar and kitchen facilities.
In Phase Five we aim to refurbish the facilities in the present building.
As progress is made we will update this page to let you know how we are getting on.
